Dal Palak



Dal Palak is easy to prepare and goes well with roti or rice. Its healthy recipe and great alternative for kids who don't like green veggies. My boy likes this dal preparation over simple plain dal tadka.

RECIPE:

Cooking Time: 20 mins
Preparation Time: 10 mins

Ingredients:
  • Chana dal: 3/4 cup
  • Palak : 1 bunch ( Finely Chopped)
  • Onion: 1 medium (Finely Chopped)
  • Garlic: 1 tbsp (Finely Chopped)
  • Tomato: 1 medium( Finely Chopped)
  • Turmeric pwd: 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
To Temper:
  • Ghee: 4-5 tsp
  • Jeera : 1/2 tsp
  • Hing : a  pinch
  • Red Chilli: 1-2

Method:


  • Pressure cook the dhal with turmeric pwd and salt upto 3-5 whistles or until mushy .Mash it up with  a laddle and keep aside. 
  • Heat ghee in pan/kadai and add the jeera, hing and red chilli and allow it to splutter.
  •  Add garlic, onion and saute till golden brown. Then add tomato and cook for 3-4 mins or until mushy.


  • Add the chopped palak and cook till it losses water and shrink in size or quantity.


  • Add the cooked dhal  to this  mixture and mix  well and allow it to boil for 3-5mins in low flame and switch it off.
  • Serve hot with  rice  or roti. 



Notes:
  • You can try this recipe with any other variety of dal of your chioce.
