Gajar/Carrot Halwa

Yesterday my friend called and asked me to share the recipe of Gajar Halwa, which she had when she last visited my place, as she wanted to surprise her husband who  loves it a lot. Actually Gajar Halwa is a dessert which is prepared cooking gajar/carrot and milk together. Even everybody at my home loves gajar  halwa, so I thought why not to share this recipe with you guys....


Cooking Time: 20-25 mins
Preparation Time: 10-15 mins


Gajar/Carrot: 5-6 medium size(grated)
Milk: 2 cup
Ghee: 1 tbsp
Sugar: 1/3 cup( or as per your test)
Cardamom pwd: 1 tsp
Cashew: 1  tsp(fried & chopped)
Almond: 1 tsp(chopped)


  1. Take a milk in a pan and bring it to boil. Keep aside.
  2. Heat ghee in thick bottomed vessel and add the grated gajar/carrot and saute for 5-6 mins.
  3. Now add milk and cook on medium heat until milk dries.
  4. Now add the sugar and cardamom pwd and mix well. Cook for another 2-3 mins.
  5. Now garnish with cashew and almond.
