chole/chana masala



                                                  
Chole/Chana Masala is popular Punjabi dish. It is semi dry dish, where chole  are coated with gravy which is moderately spicy. Chole bhature and chole kulcha is very famous. Personally I love chole a lot.





RECIPE:

Cooking Time: 30-40 mins
Preparation Time: 15-20 mins
Serve: 3-4

Ingredients:

Kabuli chana/white chick peas: 1 cup( soaked overnight)
Tea bag 1 (optional)
Cumin seeds/jeera 1/2 tsp
Onion 1 large (finely chopped)
Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
Chole masala 2 tsp
Chilli powder 1/2 tsp
Dried mango powder/amchur 2 tsp 
Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
Coriander 1 tsp
Cumin seeds (jeera) pwd
Cooking oil
Salt to taste



Method:
  1.  Cook the Kabuli chana with the tea bag in pressure cooker for 3-4 whistles on medium flame  or until they are soft .
  2. Heat the oil in a pan, add the cumin seeds. When the seeds crackle, add the onion, ginger garlic paste and saute till the onion is golden brown/transparent.
  3.  Add the chole masala, chilli powder, amchur, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin seed powder and salt and saute for another minute.
  4. Add the Kabuli chana and a cup of water and mix well. Simmer for 10 to 15 mins.

Note:

       You can use tomato(1 large ) instead of dry mango powder.
