Tehri is the simplest rice preparation. It can be prepared in no time. It is healthy as it is prepared with lots of veggies.


Cooking Time: 20-25mins
Preparation Time: 10-15 mins
Serve: 2


Long grain basmati rice: 1 cup
Green peas: 3/4 cup
Onion: 1 small(finely chopped)
Vegetables: 1 and 1/2 cup(potato, beans, carrot, peas, etc)
Ginger garlic paste: 1/4 tsp(optional)
Cumin seed: 1/3 tsp
Salt to taste


  1. Wash the rice and keep aside.
  2. Heat ghee in pan and add cumin seed, when it splutter then add ginger garlic paste and fry for min. 
  3. Now add chopped onion and cook for another 3-4 mins.
  4. Add vegetable and cook till they turn crisp, then add rice and fry for 1-2 mins.
  5. Then add 2 cups of water, salt and cook on medium heat. 
  6. Cover the pan and cook on low heat till rice is done.
  7. Serve with raita.


Can also cook rice in rice cooker.
Ginger garlic paste is optional.
