Fusilli Pasta in Tomato Sauce

This recipe was pending from long time. This weekend while shopping in supermarket I picked pasta packet and next day only I prepared it. Since I forget to pick pasta sauce so I prepared it from fresh tomato.

Cooking Time: 20 mins
Preparation Time: 10-15 mins

  • Fusilli Pasta: 1 cup
  • Tomato: 2 (big size)
  • Red Bell Pepper/Capsicum: Half ( de seeded and diced)
  • Yellow Bell Pepper: Half ( de seeded and diced)
  • Broccoli: 6-7 florets (medium size)
  • Garlic: 1 tbsp( finely chopped)
  • Onion: 1/3 cup( chopped)
  • Tomato ketchup: 1tbsp
  • Italian seasoning: 1/2 tbsp
  • Chilli flakes: 1tsp
  • salt to taste
  • Olive oil for cooking


  • Boil fusilli pasta with salt until slightly soft yet crunchy enough to bite.Drain and Keep aside.
  • Blanch tomato, peel skin and make puree in blender. Keep aside.

  • Heat olive oil in a pan, add garlic  and saute until slightly brown in colour then  add chopped onion and cook till  slightly brown.
  • Add broccoli cook for 2-3 mins then add red and yellow bell pepper, cook for min.

  • Add tomato puree and saute until raw smell  leaves.
  • Add tomato puree, tomato ketchup, salt , chilli flakes and italian seasoning. Mix well.
  • Add the cooked pasta and mix well so  the pasta is coated well with the sauce.
  • Cook for min or 2, switch off .

  • Do not over cook the pasta otherwise it will not taste good.
  • Can use store bought pasta sauce.
  • Blanch broccoli to retain its color.
